Toronto FC acquires 16-year-old forward from FC Dallas for conditional pick

TORONTO - Toronto FC acquired 16-year-old forward Abdus (Ibee) Ibrahim from FC Dallas in exchange for a conditional draft pick on Friday.

Ibrahim became the second-youngest player ever drafted in the MLS Superdraft when he was taken in the second round (14th overall) in 2007. Freddy Adu was only 14 when he was chosen in 2004.

Ibrahim, who was born in Ethiopia, played for the American under-17 FIFA World Cup team in 2007 and was brought up for the U-20 camp in Argentina later that year.

"He's a tremendous young talent," said Mo Johnston, director of soccer for Toronto FC. "Ibee's got loads of potential and he could possibly be a major player for Toronto FC in years to come."

Over the past two seasons, Ibrahim has appeared in four reserve division games, scoring one goal.
