DC-area airports work to get back to normal

WASHINGTON – Airports in the Washington region are working to get back to normal days after a blizzard dumped nearly 3 feet of snow in some parts of the area.

Reagan National Airport re-opened around 10 a.m. Tuesday after being closed for more than two days.

Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport opened the second of its two runways Monday afternoon. The first runway opened Sunday evening.

And Dulles International Airport is running limited flights on two of its four runways.

Flights are canceled or delayed at all the airports, however.

Officials don't have an estimate of how many flights have been canceled but an airports authority spokeswoman says Reagan and Dulles handle about 1,400 flights daily during the week. A BWI spokesman says the airport typically handles about 630 flights daily.
